We consider a multifaceted approach: design a mobile library that can be easily transported and set up, incorporating community engagement and flexible programming, and ensure accessibility for all users, including those with disabilities.
Mobile Library Design:
- Transportability: The mobile library should be easily transportable, whether it's a van, a trailer, or even a modified container, ensuring it can reach various locations in and around Nairobi.
- Durability: The structure should be durable and weather-resistant, capable of withstanding Nairobi's climate and various terrains.
- Accessibility: Ensure that the mobile library is designed to be accessible to people with disabilities, with ramps, wide doorways, and accessible shelving.
- Functionality: The design should include adequate space for books, reading areas, and potentially computer access or internet connectivity.
- Community Engagement: Incorporate spaces for community activities, such as storytelling sessions, workshops, or literacy programs.
